" Less than an overwhelming success, but it's still touching and troubling, and amounts to much more than the average portrayal of teen angst." -from "Rotten Tomato" review After watching this movie,I felt so depressed as ever! It's a very interesting movie but I won't dare to watch again.I can't help but feel very emotional because the topic is very heavy and it is very disturbing in some sense.Back in my high school days, all I can remember is the most common problems each teenager my age were facing was the constant bullying from boys. But today,It's obviously much different.Modern Psychologist termed it as "identity crisis" and I think more and more teenagers suffer from it now a days.Though most conservative individuals are expected to react unlikely or hesitantly at first ,I think there would be no sense in arguing about it anymore because people are more open minded and as we all know, acknowledged and accepted worldwide.Parents must know how to deal with such issues from their children because these are one of most vulnerable moments most teenagers are facing. This movie is not only about pure Lesbianism but it talks about real issues that most teenagers faced at some certain point in their lives. In fact it's trying to show everyone how important a parents' guidance is in their children's life. The absence of parental love and guidance are usually the main reason of a teenager's rebellion and confusions in life. When it comes to heart matters,we can't judge others about how they feel because it comes in surprising unique ways.Much more,we can't judge them if we never were in their place. So as for me,It's not mine to validate what's acceptable or not.I was once there myself and might be going there again and I know how it feels to suffer from within without somebody you trusted or someone you can confide in. Mary, had witness all of these.Being new at school, she had to share room with some of the girls. She met Tori and Paulie and had observed intimacy growing between the two. There was a part when they were introducing themselves to each other and turned out all of them has one common problem-lack of parental love and affection.Tori's mom was a prostitute so to keep her alive, she have her adapted. But Tori was really dying to meet her biological mother. In fact, she tried her best to meet her but she was rejected and her mother told her,she don't want to see her.Maybe,it's more of feeling ashamed but Tori was all the more heart broken. And Paulie, who came from a well, say complete family but cold hearted parents. All they wanted her to do is to live up to their expectation and to fulfill their expectations. And she was never herself ever since. So when her younger sister caught her on the same bed naked with Tori, that scared the hell of her and did everything she can to avoid her sister from telling her parents. And she doesn't have much choice but to end her relationship with Tori, the second rejection Tori received in a row.Again.Paulie had done it so somehow she can still be with her,got to see her but it's way much painful for Tori.Mary's mother died while she was young and all she's got are just memories.
And she became good friends with both of them, sometimes caught in between her roommates heated argument or misunderstanding.and Tori with repeated rejections had lost the reason to live and so she committed suicide in front of everybody at the school compound. I know it was such a dark and depressing thing but the actors were so good that It felt so real for me and it was indeed heart touching. It's not one of those movies that I love watching but It's a movie that I'll definitely remember.
