One day, a man went for a haircut, he and the barber have a nice conversation until they went to a religious conversation. The barber said, “You know what I don’t believe God exists. “The man asks the barber why. The barber said defensively, if God exists, there should not be poor people in the world, no sick and dying. No hungry beggars on the street, you claim God is compassionate, where is he now in times like this? The man just nod paid his bill and made his way home. On his way, he met a shabby man, dirty with very long hair and beards. The man run back to the barber and said, “you know what barbers don’t exist, but how come, said the barber. I cut your hair just a while ago, of course we exist said the barber. The man said, if barbers exist, look at that man, why does he have long dirty hair? But he didn’t come for a haircut replied the barber. That’s same with God, said the man, God is here but people don’t ask help from him.

Why did God create woman from man’s rib, when he could simply create her from dust, as he did man?If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who won’t survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 20 million people in the world. A young man was getting ready to graduate college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s show room, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As graduation day approach, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchase the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son and told him how much he loved him. He handled his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible. Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said,” With all your money you gave me a Bible?
A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air. "Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air. "My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special - Don't ever forget it!
A dear friend sent this story to me. It’s such a powerful tale that mirrors reality so well. One day, a mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. “What food might this contain?” The mouse wondered. He was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.
A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.
Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee. When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said: "If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each other's cups. Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us." God brews the coffee, not the cups.......... Enjoy your coffee! "The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything." Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God |
