Like almost everyone, we live in a nation where to be an indigenous is a blessing and a curse.
A blessing because laws are created to give assistance to indigenous tribes like mine. Like NCIP where people i see availing are often capable and can afford an education but the brand of being indigenous is likened to a helpless beggar in need of help. And since it favors us, we grab it. Wereadily admit bring poor over pretending to be rich.
I haven't seen an indigenous tribe as successful, as organized, as proud, as good, as united as mine. I see Filipinos not wanting to be Filipinos but I rarely see an Igorot embarassed of their heritage.#Igorotak shirts became a hit. Because this name is so sacred among us.

I have no Spanish or American ancestry. Full Blooded Igorot (FBI) ako.
There's no need to improve how the Igorot race should look as we are all created in the image of God.
In many parts of the country, the word Igorot is used as a derogatory term for idiots. It was a primeval thinking that stuck in the minds of modern people who still think Igorots are short, ugly, dark skinned with curly hairs and tails. Because of these negative connotations that even a esteemed professor utter that “intermarriages with Caucasian missionaries improved the looks of these race.”
A Hindu saint who was visiting river Ganges to take bath found a group of family members on the banks, shouting in anger at each other. He turned to his disciples smiled and asked.
'Why do people shout in anger shout at each other?'
Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, 'Because we lose our calm, we shout.'
'But, why should you shout when the other person is just next to you? You can as well tell him what you have to say in a soft manner.' asked the saint
Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the other disciples. Finally the saint explained,
'When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other to cover that great distance.
What happens when two people fall in love? They don't shout at each other but talk softly, Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is either nonexistent or very small...'
The saint continued, 'When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper and they get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other and that's all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.'
He looked at his disciples and said.
'So when you argue do not let your hearts get distant, Do not say words that distance each other more, Or else there will come a day when the distance is so great that you will not find the path to return.'

His name is Sylvestar Stallone. One of the BIGGEST and Most famous American Movie superstars. Back in the day, Stallone was a
struggling actor in every definition. At some point, he got so broke that he stole his wife's jewellery and sold it. Things got so bad that he even ended up homeless. Yes, he slept at the New York bus station for 3 days. Unable to pay rent or afford food. His lowest point came when he tried to sell his dog at the liquor store to any
stranger. He didn't have money to feed the dog anymore. He sold it at $25 only. He says he walked away crying.

A couple of young newlyweds was very poor and lived in a small farm. One day the husband made the following proposal to his wife:
- Honey, I will leave the house: I will travel faraway, get a job and work hard in order to be able to come back and give you the comfortable life that you deserve. I do not know how long I will stay away… I only ask one thing, please wait for me, and while I am out, you should be faithful to me, because I will be faithful to you.
So the young man left. He walked many days until he found a farmer who was in need of someone to help him. The young man came and offered his services. He was accepted! Therefore he discussed the terms with his boss:
- Let me work for as long as I want and, when I think I should go home please release me of my duties. I do not want to receive my salary. I ask you to save it for me, until the day I leave. The day I decide to go, please give me the money and I will follow my way.
They agreed in that! So, the young man worked for twenty years without holidays and without rest. After twenty years, he came to his boss and said:
- Boss, I want my money, because I am returning to my house.
The boss replied:

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less from people but more from yourself.
