SUMMARY This is all about an undying love of a man named Garret who loved two women in his life. His wife died while giving birth, this tragedy changed him completely. He was a different person right after the death of his wife. His past time is writing letter for his wife sending it through the surging wave hoping his wife would pick it somewhere and read it. He loved his much so much that for almost three years, it still pained him to face the reality. He focused on working to busy himself. On the other hand, Theresa a columnist in Boston accidentally picked Garret’s letter washed in the shore put inside a sealed bottle during her beach vacation. She was deeply moved by the letter that she is interested much of knowing the personality of the writer. She met him and it is not included in her plan to fall in love to him. His features have something that attracted her so much. After series of dates, they were in a relationship. However, the more Garret tried to focus her attention to Theresa, the more he think of Catherine. This made him guilty and silent sometimes. His wife still occupies his heart and mind. Theresa would do most of the visit. Most of the time was spent as if they are only the people alive but still Garret would sometimes dream of Catherine. After a long thought, he decided to marry Theresa and asked her to come down to Wisconsin to live with him. That quick decision surprised his father. His father warned him of his plans. However when Garret went to Boston with his plan, that led to an argument that Theresa left him alone in the room. While waiting for her to return, he needs a paper coz he needs to write. To his surprise he pulled a drawer with his letters there. These angered him so much thinking Theresa had been long lying to him. That led even to a deep argument, without even listening to her explanation, he packed his things and went back home. His quick arrival surprises his father. After explaining everything to him, he excuses himself. After some hours, they were both surprise to see her standing in their door. Jed, his father let her in and left them for a talk to settle their issues. Without talking, Theresa just kissed him and asked him to listen this time. After a passionate touch and talk, all went well. After spending days with him, she said her goodbye, Garret do all what he can to hinder her from leaving but still she left. This time, they didn’t see each other for so long. She was surprised by a sudden call from Jed, his father asking her for sometime to talk an important matter. She immediately went for it where she learned Garret died from a storm accident. her world seems to fall apart. This had hurt her too deeply. She then busied herself with her work. While cleaning some old stuff to donate, she saw 2 letters unopened. All came from Garret before the accident, the reason of his suicidal death were all neatly narrated. That was the time he said goodbye to Catherine ready to face his new life with her but that was the time she left him. She almost read it for over like a thousand times but the words still pierce her the same time she read the letter. After 2 years, she wrote her response saying, I forgive you and I love you always!!!! REFLECTION It’s very common we realized things after every lost...Its common we don’t appreciate what we have until such circumstances shows us where in it’s too late to make the adjustments... There are times we limit the world in our own capabilities that we fail to see beyond... And most of the time we wept after so much loosing…this is a fictional story but represents reality..the lesson is learn to express and show how much you value the person before losing the opportunity that will coz you to suffer the consequence in a lifetime… This is so far the book that got me to love Nicolas Sparks books.Like After reading this novel,I went searching for other books possibly written by the same author. And when I found out that A Walk to Remember and the Notebook was also written by him,I excitedly watch it.I have a copy of those two movies and I watched it more than once. I just find it unusual for a male author to be this gentle and sweet and extra loving in characterizing his female characters on his book.I just find it the best and romantic to find a guy who can write really long letters with passion and love and all. I have read lots of novels who also treated women passionately and carefully but not giving the same level of respect that Sparks does in his books. He don't cast women in his book as sex symbols. He always characterized them with such genuine respect, care and affection that really helps boost my confidence and worth as a woman. That explains why I fell in love with this novel and so I went hunting for the others.Too bad,I only watched "The Notebook" and " A Walk To Remember" because I cannot afford to buy at that time and eBooks are not that really popular.I just wished I had the chance to read it first before watching because usually my imaginations are sometimes way too far and better than how it was on movies.I loved the movie though specially that Rachel McAdam gave an excellent performance on the Notebook.I did had the chance to watch Message in a Bottle few years after but I loved the book more than the movie.
