“No man is an island”, said John Donne. A person is social being, born into a group, and lives in a social group.Popularly, we think of groups as assemblages or cluster of people. In a very general sense, a group is composed of two or more person who have something in common, are interacting with each other and are guided with a set of norms. Factors that influence group: 1.Motivational base shared by individuals- individuals find themselves together in similar social situations that may have motivational implications for the formation of group. 2.Size of the group-the size of a group may range from two to a million members. When a group has two members, it is called a dyad, as in a friendship group. 3.type of group goals -it is often held that the structural patterns of social groups are affected by its goal. 4.kind of group cohesion-refers to the degree to which the members of a group have the ability to function and interact together towards the pursuit of their goals.
