" no matter how kind or responsible a man was,she didn't feel any passion, she couldn't help but think that she'd be "settling" for someone and she didn't want to settle. That wouldn't be fair to her and that wouldn't be fair to him.She wanted a man who was both sensitive and kind, but at the same time could sweep her off her feet. She wanted someone who would offer to rub her feet after a long day at the library but also challenge her intellectually.Someone one romantic of course, the kind of guy who would buy you flowers for no reason at all" -Lexie "In any marriage, there was a fine balance between doing what you wanted and what your partner wanted, and as long as the husband and the wife were doing what the other wanted, there was never any problem. The problems arose when they are doing what they wanted without regard to the other" -Lexie How could you explain everything that just happens that even research nor the laws of sciences can't fully explain? How can science term something that is extra ordinary? Well,In religion they termed it as miracle for those who believe it?
Jeremy Marsh is a scientist who works as an investigative journalist at a popular production. He had already received a lot of awards for his extra ordinary works that includes exposing the lies and the mystery behind each blinding show being put up on stage by each so called magicians or faith healers or what ever they call themselves who tricked for the money.Jeremy Marsh had exposed a lot of them using scientific facts and evidences. This time,he was given an assignment in a small town in Boone Creek. The town was so famous of each mystery ghost appearances at midnight that had attracted not only tourists but also a lot of researchers and scientists who had attempted to solve the mystery. Jeremy went to Boone Creek to solve the mystery of the Ghost .He met a lovely librarian named Lexie who was aloof at first with him.He knew he was struck the first time he saw her.The feeling can't be scientifically explained but he is so sure about his feelings. He spent most days in the library searching and visiting the town.Since its an old fashion town and is really a small one,he is the talk of the town.Mayor Gerkhin even prepared a party to welcome him hoping that Jeremy would write something positive about there town. That would attract more tourists and it would be of great help to their income. He was even presented by the mayor with the key to the city which means he is always welcome every time.He met a wonderful woman named Doris who had parented Lexie after her parents got killed in an accident.Doris has the gift of predicting the future or the so called gift of divinity. As usual,Jeremy is so skeptic about her skills stating that it might just be a coincidence. Lexie though busy running the library had been very supportive of Jeremy. She did toured him around the small town hence the friendship was developed as days go by.She was kind enough to bring Jeremy to the tomb to witness for himself the appearance of the ghost at night time.He saw it by himself and was so amazed by it.After extreme investigation and studying,Jeremy came into a conclusion that the light might be an effect of the train station at miller mill.He had done a lot of interviews and researching which means he also talked to Doris about it.There were a lot of versions and tales or legends they might want to call it.No one has proven though if these legends were true.As for Lexie, she always visit the tomb whenever she's down and lonely or angry. She felt like the ghost where her parents who's trying to communicate with her. Jeremy and Lexie fell in love but Lexie had tried her very best to avoid Jeremy. There's no way she'll fall in love to a city boy who don't like living in her hometown. There's no way she'll give in because in just a few days,Jeremy will return to New York, move on with his life and leave her heart broken again just like her previous relationship with Mr Renaissance had turned out. Lexie, trying to clear her mind took an off from work and decided to leave Boone Creek for a while. She went to an island where her parents use to hang out .A place so much filled with memories.Filled with her grandfather's tale stories about pirates and legends.Unfortunately,it is also the place where here parents got killed in an accident. She find solace in that area.A sense of security.A place where she can undo her tired mind and heart. Jeremy found out about this abandoned his schedule for the day and followed her.No one told him where she was,not even Doris but his pretty sure she might have gone to that island since she mentioned it to him a lot of times.Lexie on the other hand was so surprised to see him there. It was challenging to reach the island but Jeremy met good hearted fisherman who dropped him on the island. They confronted each other.Jeremy telling her how much he loved her.And her in her most vulnerable self admitted she ran away coz she's scared to love again. They spent a meaningful evening together. She cooked an Italian pasta for him,had dinner together.Watched the sunset together and made love over and over again. The world seemed to have stopped turning for them. How they wish they could keep that moment forever. But Lexie knew that in just a few days Jeremy would be going. He promised her he would figure things out to make the relationship work but she's skeptic about it. After they returned to Boon Creek, they went straight to the police station to fetch Alvin who was jailed for driving while drunk. He was imprisoned by Lexie's ex husband for no charge at all. Then the feeling went awkward.Lexie tried her very best to avoid Jeremy in every possible way while Jeremy was trying his best to pursue her. They both knew that no one is moving.Lexie loved Boone Creek while Jeremy loved New York. They had a huge argument in the library when Jeremy confronted her about the diary of the mayor's father. He accused her of lying to him but truth is,they were fighting because of the feelings they have for each other its only that they still can't figure out how would it work. The following day,Mayor Gerkhin had made a final visit to Alvin and Jeremy before going back to New York.Lexie also came to apologize and to say goodbye.Jeremy was asking her to still keep him but she revealed a shocking revelation that stopped Jeremy from pursuing her.She will be marrying Rodney.Jeremy went back to New York heart broken. It reminded her again of her marriage to Maria who had left her because he can't father children. He wanted to ran after her to tell her there would be no sense in going home without her but he didn't.After finishing the project in Boone Creek,he took a vacation and took time visiting each family member. It reminds him all the more that he was alone. He was working too hard and his life is a misery. He was in his apartment waiting for his ordered lunch when Doris showed up.He was so shocked and surprised how he found him.She told him,Rachel has Alvin;s number and he had helped her locate his apartment. She came to tell him Lexie lied to him so she could drove him away. That was a secret they kept in years. Jeremy without any doubt called the airline, book a ticket bound to North Carolina. He went searching for Lexie only to find her on the cemetery where she was in tears. He then told her,he realize being in New York without her has no meaning so he decided to come down just to be with her. Lexie held his hand and put it on her tummy and said,"this is your miracle" a baby girl that also Doris predicted earlier. It was of course a miracle, they say he can't father children but he's got a baby girl now.Doris was right ,it is time for him to realize that there are just somethings that Science can't explain.First, him falling in love head over heals to a woman she just met, secondly,he is soon to be a father and third,he had come down all along from New York to Boone Creek just to be with the woman he loved. It's not just one miracle but a lot,a reason for him to become a true believer... MY REVIEW AND REFLECTION First,I am an admirer of Science but not a full believer specially on the theories of evolution.Just to clear that up. Anyways,I noticed though that of all the Sparks' books that I read, this one is slightly different. No dog or marine or body of water involved. The topic is also mostly science and research as opposed to most of his concepts in his previous books. That could be the reason why it bored me a little bit because I'm not much into politics and science. This book is very different in away that its more about work and politics.I was bored because the story was prolonged irrelevantly.Nicolas Sparks had been always my favorite author when it comes to romance and I never get bored to any of his books except for this one.The phasing took forever and it bored me to death.Maybe it has something to do with the topic which are science and politics. Two of my most hated topics. And I realized I keep repeating myself specially the word "bored". I loved the name and the characters though.I love the name Lexie,it reminds me of someone from home that I admire and a friend whom I cared about.I fancy that name because it sounded so feminine and kind.I don't know why I had that instant admiration to that name. I also like the part when Sparks talks about differences.Like when they argue about who's moving in and who's suppose to adjust.I feel like its also a topic that may bring awareness to readers about the realities of commitment.I mean we all know that most movies end their stories real well like a fantasy but in reality, life is much much more complicated than it seems.Well,I never was there nor I have any experience about this stuff so I'm not actually in the position to speak about it. The book might have the tendency to be boring but still,it hasn't discredit the "sparks" signature as I might wanna call it.His signature about passion, endless love and sweet tenderness for each character. Over all, sweet but not that interesting...

"People will tell you most of the story, and I've learned that the part they neglect to tell you is often the most important part.People hide the truth because they are afraid"
