QUOTABLE QUOTESFOR AMANDA: MY REVIEW
First love never dies-take it from the love story between Dawson Cole and Amanda Collier. They were once high school sweethearts. It was first love for both of them not until certain circumstances separated them. They thought they were inseparable but Amanda has to go to college and Dawson has to let go of her. It's a sacrifice that they both has to do and chances are, fate will bring them together in thefuture if they are really meant for each other.Years passed, they met again in Tucks funeral. The man who is very important to both of them.Their bridge to reunite again.Flames rekindled.Their past brought back, memories alive. And both knew that even if they were separated, their love never died.I t had been kept after all those years.Fate brought them back again together,to the place of memories. To the place where they once shared. The place that reminded DAWSON that he gave the best of him to Amanda-his heart. DAWSON COLE came from a troubled family back ground. His dad was a sadistic alcoholic who almost beat him to death. His cousins were pain in the ass.In their small town, the Coles were always known as the trouble makers. He still managed to continue his studies as a working student at TUCK'S shop, one of his uncle. His father would collect his hard earned salary every week end and he can't fight back. What his father didn't realize was his son was growing up and he is growing older. One day,he went to collect his hard earned money but Dawson fought back, starting that day,he live his own life.He was feared. He spent most of his spare time at the shop after school. He had a deep crush on a pretty popular girl in his class-Amanda.At first,he struggled to ask her out.One day,he over come his shyness by asking her out.To what he don't know,Amanda secretly likes him too.Their friendship grew deeper. They would normally spent time together in Tuck's garage.Amanda watching him while he finished reparing a car .Together, they feel perfect for each other. They argue from time to time but it's easy to make up.Like they knew exacty when to stop and how to resolve their issues. Amanda on the other hand is popular in school for she's a cheerleader. The Cole family has a good reputation and popular in Oriental. However, her parents don't approve Dawson for her considering his family background. That's her argument always with her parents. She was asked to break up with him for she needed to move on and go to college. She was so devastated and hurt that she decided to ran away with Dawson.Apparently,Dawson doesn't approve of her decision. He was hurting too but still,he knew it's best for them to break up so they can move on with their lives. Years pass, they meet again to take care of Tuck's funeral.Actually, there's no ceremony as they were the only one's invited. They were the only one closest to him.He left his will and testament to his attorney. He was a wise man for he knew what's exactly going on between the two. Both were so surprised and speechless at first. They don't even know where to start catching up.Amanda went first. She talk about her life. That after graduating as a teacher in college, she married Frank,a dentist. She had her first daughter but she died of cancer that's why she ended working as a volunteer for that hospital. Then she had 2 more kids,Jared and Lynn.Frank was devastated of their daughters death that he ended alcoholic.Little by little, their marriage was getting gray. From time to time.Amanda would come to Oriental to visit her mother. And with the Alibi of hosting a program but Lord knows, she comes to Oriental to reminisce the past. She wanted to renew her memories.Tuck knew that too. After all those years, her love for Dawson goes deeper.Frank is a good husband but she can't just surrender her heart whole heartedly to him because she knew she gave her heart to some else years ago and she wonders if he ever come back. Dawson accidentally killed some one in his younger years. He was driving Tuck's car when he killed the famous Dr Bonner. After he served his time in prison,he was released. With feeling of guilt and shame,he left Oriental for good.He took a job in Wisconsin and had hired a private investigator to update him with Dr Bonner's family.Since he received his first salary,he had been secretly sending money to help sustain the family of the man he killed. His guilt never left him.He never dated anyone ever since.Because to him,it's easier that way.Besides,he never loved any one ever than Amanda. Now that they met again, they spent more time together.Talking about the "could have beens".PAst rekindled and they realized, they still love each other. They spend the night together in Tuck's place. Then after lots of thoughts,Amanda made up her mind-to prioritize her family. She knew they love each other but she can't be selfish.Love is not always enough. As for Dawson, seems he needs to move on.He was renting a hotel outside Oriental because he knew Ted and Abee was looking for him to have their revenge. Frank was so drunk one afternoon that his drinking buddy rang their son Jared to fetch him.On their way home, they had an accident .Frank wasn't hurt much but Jared needed heart transplant.Amanda hated Frank more than ever.Miraculously, they found an anonymous donor. They knew nothing of him except his 42 years old.The heart transplant was successful,Jared is taking therapy. It was something to celebrate about not until she received a call from Tuck's attorney informing her of the heroic death of Dawson. He died saving Allan Bonner (the son of the Dr he killed years ago) from the cruel hands of his cousins Ted and Abee. They managed to escape but Ted shot and got him on the head. And it all make sense to Amanda. As much as she wanted to lament for his death, there's part of her that wanted to cry out of joy. Then she remember what he told her before..."he gave her the best of him-his heart"..and now the heart of the man she truly loved is on her son. What else could she asked for :0 Well,well,well...since It's a Nicolas Sparks book I knew pretty well what to expect. The leading man is as always my kind of guy (that is why I'm so much into his books) The guys character is thoughtful, sweet, loving and most of all ruggedly handsome. And the usual, there's a heavy emotional drama involve like the death of one of the main character on the end.Maybe,it's his writing style.A true Nicolas Sparks signature.I hated that feeling after reading his books but I don't understand why I'm still hook on it.Like I'm one of those waiting and looking forward for his books. when compared to other writers,Nicolas Sparks' books seems monotonous and repetitive. But there's something in his books that's so addictive for me.There's a touch of sweetness and conservatism in a way that's why I'm so loving it.The role of the women in his books is always someone that needed extra care, love and affection. He had their character as some one vulnerable, fragile yet strong inside.Maybe, that's one reason why I'm into his books because I really wish there are still men of today out there who treated women not just as sex symbols or trophy but a woman who by heart and spirit is needed to complete them. After reading this,I have questions like what happened to Dawson? Was he cremated? Did someone took care of his funeral? Did Amanda told his family the truth. But I guess, that's not the main concern of the family. It's just made me sadder all the more. You know how hard it is to live alone. One thing though,Dawson's character is just too sad.Like he's a loner,he's alone.he's sad and he waited for nothing. And from a readers point of view,it's just too much emotion. You feel sorry for each and every character but the same time it's depressing how things turned out.Imagine how I felt after reading it.It's too much too bear.I miss the old Nicolas Sparks novel. Those that you feel like it was written not rushed. Those novel that were written by the heart and was matured by time .
