SUMMARY & REVIEW
Father is a drug dealer, mother is a stripper. The son is an 18 year old virgin who had never been kissed or dated a girl before.Daughter is a run away teenager and thief. They are the Millers.A bogus family who's mission is to smuggle a whole truck of Marijuana from Mexico.
Rose was pretty broke that she was locked out her apartment the same day she quit work because she was asked by her boss to include sex in their stripping service.Kenny lived on the same building, the sweetest jerk David ever met.David's money was robbed off including some that belongs to his boss so to repay,he was asked to smuggle Marijuana from Mexico. In order to do so,David hired the three of them to set up his bogus family.
The next day, they headed to Mexico and were provided an RV by drug dealer Brad. There were funny inconveniences along the road. They had been constantly arguing until they met a couple Eddie and Don on their way out. They had been bumping towards each other pretty much specially when their RV broke on the road,Don offered to pull their RV to the nearest repair shop. Meanwhile,in Mexico Pablo figured out that he was played on by Brad so they went in pursue of David. They were caught on the road but they managed to escape.Next challenge,Kenny was bitten by a spider so he was brought to the hospital.David didn't care at all because all he care was to deliver the Marijuana on time so he can be given 500 grand. This brought up an argument so he stormed out and drove the RV on his own.But midway,he got back to fetch the girls. It is when they met Eddie and Don again.Kenny and Melissa confronted each other to which Kenny blurted the truth accidentally.
They were in the middle of confrontation when Pablo and his men arrived threatening to kill the family unless he surrender the RV.Don came to their rescue arresting Pablo. However,he told David that he will arrest him as well but he turned his back on them giving them the chance to leave.
Following day,David delivered the Marijuana a day late.Brad refused to pay him then the DEA people broke into his office and arrested him.David and his bogus family lived together in one house as Don offered them six months protection program.
I just like this movie better than the the recent Aniston movies .It's still not that super great but I find it with more sense. Each characterization seemed to have been justified in the end like Rose playing as a hooker. You can see the sadness in her eyes and one can easily see that she don't enjoy her job as a stripper.
In one of the scenes , she stripped to convince Pablo not to kill them. She did it to prove a point but it seemed that people were fixated on her stripping part only. (Not to mention they used a double for body shot and lingerie shots)People talk about how hot she was when she stripped and it was like it's all that they can remember.I just don't know if I'm over analyzing simple things because I admire that scene because of it's relevance in the story. There's no huge impressive twists but at least they presented a real deal that was painfully and pitifully funny. It's just a feel good having a good time movie!
My reviews will be based on the following scenes. All of them are memorable to me in different levels.
FUNNY EPIC SCENES
David and Rose were in a heated argument about the deal when the flight stewardess walks in.To cover,Rose abruptly led a prayer and the flight stewardess was awed and wish she could practice that in her own family.Rose pretended to be emotional and hugged the flight stewardess while giving David that "FU" finger. First,it's offensive specially for religious groups to make fun of prayer and swear at the same time. However,it was so hilarious how Rose can think real fast when confronted by such situation.

Airport scene...
I'LL LET YOU GO IF...
Kenny's balls bit by a SpiderI think this is the scene that I laughed the most specially how Will Poulter acted. The way he was jumping and saying I was bitten...by a spider in my balls! and Rose was like can I see it and he was freaked out and then Casey blurted everyone have seen one before he collapse and brought to the hospital.Imagine the concern in Rose face while David doesn't care but to deliver the items on time.In the end,he was out powered by two women so Kenny was brought to the hospital.
and the look on their faces, epic:) |
The police officer asked for a bribe.Either they pay him with money or sex.I'm sure this is offensive to law enforcers specially to Mexicans. But movie wise,it was really funny because David thought the officer was asking to have sex with Rose.Apparently,he's gay and wanted David.Taken aback,he convinced Kenny to do it for the shake of the girls. But well,It didn't happen because officer just asked for 100 pesos not dollars!
COUPLE INTIMACY ISSUESDon and Eadie were having intimacy issues and they thought they can learn from David and Rose.So Eadie suggested maybe she can try it on Rose like a mother to mother sort of learning. She started by rubbing Rose boobs and she felt so delighted. That must be deliciously weird.Weird for the women touching each other but delicious for the men watching them.Who knows what that scene can do to them.
Meanwhile,Don was doing David's ear. What a sight! It must be very ticklish...
|
Marijuana baby tossed in the hi-waySomeone got lucky ...
Kenny being kissed alternately by two beautiful women for free with the hope of teaching him how to kiss is,for sure lots of guys wish they were Kenny...
or someone's imagining...
and it got hotter...
|
Scottie P's epic tattooI've enjoyed all his short scenes. It really cracks me up.His "You know what I mean" expression. It was hilarious in the sense that David made sense with his sarcastic answer and the way Scottie laugh after delivering the line is awkward but funny!
Casey met a guy she thought was hot and cool and have no regrets in life, not even his tattoo!Check this out :) Scottie P: You know what I'm sayin?
David: Well, I'm awake and I speak English, so yeah, I know what you're saying. ******* David: What does the tattoo on your neck say? Scotty P: No Regrets! David: Oh,not even a single spelling? |
but the truth of the matter is . . .
Lame as some might say due to the offending sex and drug jokes,I still find some heart warming scenes ....
Kenny struggled in asking a girl out...
The three were concerned with Kenny after his attempt to ask Melissa out ended badly .Rose asked David to go talk to him...
and Davids advise? If unsure or nervous, Count to 1,2,3 before kissing a girl or doing something.I'm not sure if that's effective.
and I see where this is going....
they became a real family in the end...
|
she's got a double for the sexy shots
PLEASE DON'T KILL MY FAMILYFinally,David has something good to say to his bogus instant family. He is giving Pablo good reasons why he should not kill them. Kenny might be jerk but has the biggest heart.Casey might be stubborn but is very bright. And Rose might be a stripper but is very passionate and caring.
And here's Pablo's response... David: Don't kill them, they are innocent Pablo: Well then,I'll kill you first so you don't need to watch your family die |

REVIEW
It was more of a dramatic movie in the end.Though Shirley Mclain has the funniest lines and mannerisms in the movie.I really don't know if the story had justified the title because it seems that it's not a rumor anymore. That 3 girls from the Simpson family (grandma, mom and grand daughter) had actually slept with one man named Beau.It maybe a rumor when Sara thought she's adopted because she doesn't have anything in common with her family. What's more amazing is her father knew all the story but kept it to himself. She had spent a few days chasing the story hoping she will find out who she was never knowing the answers where just infront of her.But of all the things her dad told her,the most touching part is when her dad told her the reason why he drives slow.He drives slow because she's with him in the car.
I find the last part (where she had a heart to heart talk with her dad) very touching. When she asked her dad if her mom told him why she came back and how he accepted everything. Her dad simply replied " because she loves me and it doesn't matter what she did.Atleast I have her.She chose to be with me instead of Beau and I think that's what matters to me" and those words from her dad helped Sara to make her final descision. She flew all the way to New York to apologize to Jeff and to tell him how much she loved him.And this is my second favorite scene. She went for a heartfelt apology and it really means a lot .She's not scared anymore of commitment.I like how the story was presented and the intensity of emotions involved in this scenario. When Jeff told her and reminded her of what love means. What it means when you're commited to someone. When he bluntly told her that it doesn't work that way.Where she can just tell him she's sorry and they can get married. He was still hurt of how she acted.Of how she didn't give importance to their relationship. To being engaged.
But just like what they say, love conquers all.He ran after her, hugged her tightly and wanted her back again. And they married the following year.
Of course,in most cases,it doesn't have happy endings. That maybe the reason why Adelle's song had become very popular because of it's depressing and heart broken theme that a lot can actually relate to it! (kidding aside:) It was entertaining and fun.It was dramatic but not in a way that you'll end up grieving and very sad.Atleast, this movie makes you kinda emotional but in a good way.Like it can make you realize to be thankful for what you have and most specially not to take for granted the people in your life .
There were of course funny parts too that I enjoy like Mclain's role. She doesn't want to be called a grandma but she is.I found it funny too why Sara had to go all those troubles assuming she's adopted just because she doesn't have anything in common with her family. It was funny too when she was acting disgusted when she found out Beau has a son.SHe assunmed they both were sick because she slept with him.The usual ANiston mannerisms I saw when she's still doing FRIENDS.Her facial expression like when she's confused or disgusted or simply when she's faking a cry.She was just funny and I love her as a comediane.
There were things that I dislike in this movie too.As much as I love how the characters made the movie alive,I dislike the story. It's obvious it's not believable at all.I mean how could that thing exists. The story kinda make you miles away because you can't connect to it due to it's unrealness. And kinda disgusting too.I found it so absurd.I mean how could you make 3 people from the same family make out with the man who make out with your grandmother?
Anyway,I don't expect much from the story because they are not making a movie for Humanitarian purposes. They are just here to entertain so fair enough. We have our choice which movie to watch so I'm a huge Aniston fan and turns out this movie is okay with me.it's just entertaining but not a package that will linger in my memory!

MARLEY AND ME

Soon after their wedding, John and Jenny Grogan (Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston) escape the brutal Michigan winters and relocate to a cottage in southern Florida, where they are hired as reporters for competing newspapers. At The Palm Beach Post, Jenny immediately receives prominent front-page assignments, while at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, John finds himself writing obituaries and two-paragraph articles about mundane news like a fire at the local garbage dump.
When John senses Jenny is contemplating motherhood, his friend and co-worker Sebastian Tunney (Eric Dane) suggests the couple adopt a dog to see if they're ready to raise a family. From a litter of newborn yellow labrador retrievers they select Marley (named after reggae singer Bob Marley), who immediately proves to be incorrigible. They take him to Ms. Kornblut (Kathleen Turner), who firmly believes any dog can be trained, but when Marley refuses to obey commands, she expels him from her class.
Editor Arnie Klein (Alan Arkin) offers John a twice-weekly column in which he can discuss the fun and foibles of everyday living. At first stumped for material, John realizes the misadventures of Marley might be the perfect topic for his first piece. Arnie agrees, and John settles into his new position. Marley continues to wreak havoc on the household, providing John with a wealth of material for his column, which becomes a hit with readers and helps increase the newspaper's circulation. Jenny becomes pregnant, but loses the baby early in her first trimester. She and John travel to Ireland for a belated honeymoon, leaving the rambunctious dog in the care of a young woman who finds him impossible to control, especially during the frequent thunderstorms that plague the area. Soon after returning from their vacation, Jenny discovers she is pregnant again, and this time she delivers a healthy boy, Patrick. When she has a second son, Connor, she opts to give up her job and become a stay-at-home mom, prompting John to take on a daily column for a pay increase. Due to the crime rate, the couple decides to move to a larger house in the safer neighborhood of Boca Raton, where Marley delights in swimming in the backyard pool.
Although she denies she is experiencing postpartum depression, Jenny exhibits all the symptoms, including a growing impatience with Marley and John, who asks Sebastian to care for the dog when Jenny insists they give him away. She quickly comes to realize he has become an indispensable part of the family and agrees he can stay. Sebastian accepts a job for The New York Times and moves away. A few years later, John and Jenny welcome a daughter, Colleen, to their family.
John celebrates his 40th birth day. Increasingly disenchanted with his job, he decides to accept a position as a reporter with The Philadelphia Inquirer with Jenny's blessing, and the family moves to a farm in rural Pennsylvania. John soon realizes that he is a better columnist than reporter and pitches the column idea to his editor. Life is idyllic until the aging Marley begins to show signs of arthritis and deafness. An attack of gastric dilatation volvulus almost kills him, but he recovers. When a second attack occurs, it becomes clear surgery will not help him, and Marley is euthanized with John at his side. The family pay their last respects to their beloved pet as they bury him beneath a tree in their front yard.
REFLECTION:
It's funny sometimes how much we care about dogs that we can even afford to provide luxurious rooms for them while some kids don't have homes so they have to sleep on the streets.Dogs are just lovable and loyal, that's for sure ! Even if you hurt them or punish them at some point, they won't bite you.In fact,It will come closer to you all the more. That's an illustration of how life is completely different these days.As long as you got money, you can almost all buy material things and even short term happiness and entertainment.
The irony is,the more you earn dollars, the more it makes you sad.It steals your time from your family, friends and other acquaintances. All your life, you have to chase a job and at the end of the day,you go home alone on a cold lonely house with your dog.You have to drop in a grocery store for your dog food and shampoo instead of buying supposedly for your kids and your wife. You work so much so you can earn a lot to buy entertainment.to pay somebody to love you.You spent all the days of your lives collecting awards, impressing your boss and ends up still all alone. You end up all alone with a dog and tv and a big cozy well decorated apartment. Then you realized years have gone so fast that you are too old to realized the "could have beens".Blessed are those who live life fully. Those who go at work in the morning and come home in the evening with a beautiful wife and lovely kids waiting for him at home. Not a dog but a family whom he can talk to,laugh and share all the crazy stuff that happens at him at work.

MY OWN REVIEW
I believe that most of the heaviest problems that we are dealing with in our lives were the results of our discontentment and stupidity like giving ourselves to temptation such as pleasure to satisfy our desires. It could be in the form of sex that may lead to deception.Or it could be with our greed towards money and fame.
Yes,if we don't create much trouble in our lives in the very first place, then perhaps life would be simpler. If we don't give in to pleasure that eventually turned to lies and deception.IF only we know how to be contented with whatever we have, then perhaps life would be less complicated. We don't have to suffer the guilt every moment. We don't have to wear out ourselves thinking of one lie after the other just to save face.
If only we can control ourselves from such desires then maybe, there would be lesser crimes each moment. And I'm sure this world would have been a better place.More peaceful and less stressful.
oF course,I'm not saying all because there are times we have been put to test. There are times that we have nothing to do with it but its part of being alive and we have to deal with it.
This is an exact example of what i've been talking about. This is a movie about a man who got a lovely wife and daughter and yet, unsatisfied had got himself to a very dangerous situation.Seduced by Lucinda,a woman she met in a train station. He thought she felt the same way towards him only to realize everything was a lie because he was framed in the very first place. In the end,he killed all the people who had been playing dangerous games with him including Lucinda. He was jailed for stealing money from his boss and eventually was freed. He went home where a loving beautiful wife was waiting for him and a healed and energetic daughter was there totally dependent on him.I guess,it was a lesson learned.Don't talk to strangers I guess?!
It was entertaining.Though it is not one of those breath taking or memorable movies,it is still worth it.I think it was also a break for Aniston because she mostly played "romantic comedy" types of movies. But in all fairness she played it great in this dramatic filled action movie this time!
At first,I was kinda bored but as the story advanced,it was becoming interesting. It has a nice twist in the end that makes you wanna scream how stupid they were all are because each character has an interesting dark side that was revealed. And its not one of those typical sweet happy ending movies.I was actually expecting Lucinda to be saved since she was still alive despite being shot in the stomach accidentally but he just watch her as she struggle til she died.Maybe after all,he don't feel anything special for her for everything was just lust in the very first place.
Crimes has many faces.Crimes has its sweet hidden thing but crimes never end up in something good. For every crime commited, someone has to pay.And mostly,a life for life is the payment.
It was a sad truth. Most people would engage to personal desires,a very simple thing they might thought at first but the consequences are worth life taking.
So before doing something stupid, think of where it might lead you. After all,be responsible always in everything we do because even if our law failed to justify the truth,God will surely judge us and we soon will face Him someday.
