"Jessa, you are a beautiful thing with so much contradictions. You are beautiful and ugly" How do you know you make the right decision? How do you figure out which job or relationship is right for you? How can you stand a person who just don't know how to communicate normally? They first episode started with Hannah seemingly grown into a confident young adult capable of leveraging her talents, impressing her parents, and maintaining a serious romantic relationship. Well, it wasn't the case as it turned out. She decided to pursue her writing career in IOWA much to Adams disappointment. They have argued about it and have left with their argument unsettled. ( I noticed her writing workshop class was represented by different nationalities and I'm wondering if this was Lena Dunham's way of addressing her critics when they thought the show was only exclusively composed of New Yorkers) Hannah stirred the class by bringing various social issues topic such as feminism which she boldly and passionately fight for despite being opposed to. [I love the randomness of their topics] While in IOWA,Hannah realized maybe writing isn't for her so she came back home to pursue teaching.(Poor students who will be confused all the more than they already are) At first, she was doing fine not until she struggled setting boundaries between her students and co teachers. Hannah was also having hard time processing family stuff when her father came out as gay. She has no problem with her dad being gay but it just took her by surprises and she was having challenges processing the changes in her life. When Hannah came home and found out Adam is dating someone, it broke her. Shosana came to comfort her but she lack empathy.empathy. Jessa also stopped by but she's like a human robot with no feelings at all. Hannah went to Ray but he talk about his problems instead. She desperately needed Marnie, the only normal friend she have who put things into perspective and gave her the kind of comfort she needed but Marnie is busy with her love life. It's one of my favorite scene because somehow it was very real and honest. In real life, it's true that friends aren't always there. The worse kind of friends are those who are MIA when they are in a relationship but when broken or problematic, they never stop calling you. They always remember you. MOVING ONAdam thought he cannot imagine his life with others not until Hannah moved out. Hannah also learned her lesson. In just a month, she was replaced by the man she thought she'll ever be with for the rest of her life. Adam is in a committed relationship with Mimi Rose.He was excited when he found out he'll soon be a father but instead,Mimi Rose got an abortion because he felt Adam is not ready to be a father yet. [From the messed up weird boy to the romantic clingy grown up man he is, surely he had grown up a lot! How could Mimi Rose not see that? How did he transformed into that? Does that mean that people's behavior depends entirely on who they are with?] Adam and Mimi Rose broke up because she still loves her ex whom Jessa was dating. Confronted by awkward circumstances, Adam finally found the courage to berak up with Mimi ROse. Adam thought Mimi Rose was the one. That he can imagine his future with her but when her ex showed up in her life one day, Adam can sense they are still in love so he broke up with her. Love is funny, painful and indescribable. MARNIE & DESIE. The goofy couple.Desi left her girlfriend just so he can be with Marnie because he feels connection with her. Marnie of course is serious in her relationship with Desi. But their status can be summarized in "FUCK-argue-pretend they are writing song-fuck again" in just an hour! Desi proposed to Marnie and she of course accepted it happily and she decided to tell first Ray before anyone else because she thinks Ray deserves it for sticking with her on her shittiest moments.[Well, Marnie word of advice how about buying yourself tons of SENSITIVITY next time]. She can't help but keep gloating about it even if that means stealing Ray's thunder on his own victory party by announcing to everyone she's engaged. So typical of her. When Marnie told Ray she's engage he was unhappy but have to fake his smile for Marnie because he still loves her. When Desi tried to cpnfront Ray because Desi felt there was some bad line going on, Ray told Desi the truth-That he hated him and his gut. That he doesn't even deserve Marnie at all. [Wow, what a speech there Ray. I thought it's a victory day and not Valentines day] The following day,Desi and Marnie were suppose to have an important performance but Desi was AWOL.Super Ray showed up and talked Marnie out to keep the show going even without Desi.Well, she's Marnie and an attention seeker so she took Ray's advice. Of course, Ray was her superman and the point of reference for everyone when they needed wisdom. RAY.The guy who's so good for others but so hard of himself. He can't even tell Marnie the truth because he is a scared as shit when it comes to dealing with his own feelings. In fact, the only reason he is where he is right now was because of Sosh' encouragement to run. FINDING YOUR PLACEHannah is a modern free spirited and unique woman. Instead of arguing with a group of people who find her odd and socially and emotionally challenged, she should used her energy somewhere. It's just that it is who she is and if people try to change her, it makes her suffocated. That's another aspect that I can identify with. Many times, people in general have certain expectations that I need to meet. But at times, it makes me uncomfortable and suffocated.I realized I always have a choice to shun away but I was also this person who cares so much of other people's feeling so I would rather be unhappy than making someone unhappy, something that Hannah don't have. The ability to empathize and feel for others. Hannah needs a lot of growing up to do.It means expanding her environment and sorting out what she really wanted to do.She needed to sacrifice to follow her dreams even if it means she has to be in a totally strange place in IOWA.She has to endure lonely nights in bed far away from friends and family. She has to find ways to fit in or if not influence those around her.And even if she comes back and find out Adam has moved on,she too have to move on. JESSA.Still same unpredictable Jessa. That moment when Jessa pissed on the street to prove her point on FEMINISM.She was trying to tell Adam why the government would put tons of male urinals but not for women? ell, she's got a point but she doesn't need to be barbaric to show her point. There's always a better way of expressing it. This is one issue I have against modern feminist activists.I appreciate all the effort of these strong women but I don't condone hatred and aggressive actions. There are decent or diplomatic ways to do it. I think male urinals are everywhere because probably it's easier and cheaper to put up.Also, can you imagine how our environment would be if everyone has that discipline and thinking same as that of Jessa. FEMINISMI support the original purpose of feminism but not modern feminists because sometimes it borders to hatred. There was an incident recently where 60 year old Madonna surprised 28 year old Drake when she stick her tongue in his one of their live performances. Needless to say, Drake was disgusted based on his facial reaction.I swear, if it was an old man doing that to a younger woman like the case of Robin Thicke and Miley, the blame was mainly on him.He was accused for taking advantage on a girl or could easily classify it as sexual assault or something. But when a woman does that to a man, everyone acted like it was acceptable. Most of all,I hope these feminists should not assume they can represent every woman in the world because there are still tons of women who will make a totally different choice. Why not speak and fight about bigger societal issues such as abortion, drugs, abuse and etc? Stop being too technical and overly sensitive about small things. I'm tired of this representation bullshit because it has gotten too far. GROWING UPSosh was finally offered a job only in Japan. She was torn whether to accept it or not. She told the man she was dating and of course she was advised not to take it. She went looking for Super Ray for some words of wisdom but she didn't find him in his usual hang out. Instead she talked to one of Ray's employees who gave her a really wise. The man advice Sosh to take the job because it is her chance. He advised her to learn not to be dependent on men but to create her own path instead and established her own foundation. If they really are for each other, the guy Sosh was dating would be willing to wait at the airport when she gets home. The old man's advice took Sosh by surprise but same time enlightened her. Meanwhile Adam, Hannah and Jessa gathered at Adam's hippie sister's house who was in labor. Her husband was trying to incorporate some hippie traditional natural birth style but it was Jessa who convinced both couple to agree to go to the hospital. The couple named the baby Jessa- Hannah to thank her for being street smart and woman of few words. Jessa for the first time displayed an emotion that she was touched. She went home and told Sosh she wanted to be a therapist. At the hospital nursery. Adam and Hannah were talking to the baby and Adam told Hannah he broke up with Mimi Rose. Season 4 appeals to me personally in a huge way because it focused on chasing your dreams and finding your place in this big wide world in the most painful reality. It's something I can emotionally identify with specially on the issue of trying to figure out what I want and how am I doing to get closer to that "want" that is entirely unclear to me. This season, it was more centered on priorities as a working adult. It focused on growing up to balancing relationships. It's about dealing with personal struggles and setting boundaries. I have to say Hannah's personality made me hate her at the same time pity her.I hate her gut and her reasoning. She's so childish and very inconsiderate and same time vocal and outspoken. I think Sosh is effective in a less emotional job that doesn't entail group activities or anything that involves sympathy.I just wish she will learn how to be a human for once and Marnie, why do you have the weirdest relationships and sexcapade and why are you so full of yourself? Can you for once be sensitive enough and stop being too self involved. "It's rare for such a sexually explicit scene to be shown during peak time, but Lena Dunham - the 28-year-old creator of the show - is known for pushing boundaries. The entire series is based upon honesty and the reality of being a twenty-something and messing up - and often it isn't aesthetically-pleasing or nice to watch. Every character is reassuringly flawed and the series doesn't shy away from life's more awkward moments, which is, of course, the basis of its appeal and why it matters as a show"

The reason I like HBO GIRLS so much is because it captures an essence which mainstream Hollywood has lost.
