Okay, all these beauty queens hail from India. And I'm a huge admirer of Indian beauty! Beauty & Brains In the history of Miss Universe,(thanks to the internet and it's uploaders,I had the priviledge to watch the old ones). There are two beauty queens that interest me the most.First is Sushmita Sen of India for her wisdom, personality and zest for life. The second one is Oxana Fedorova of Russia because of her achievements. It amused me so much how could a police officer turned beauty queen manage both at the same time? Sushmita Sen,Inda Miss Universe 1994 Manila,Philippines She had the most compelling combination of beauty and brains. The elegant, leggy, lady made a powerful impact in the first round itself by introducing herself as "Namaste, I am Sushmita Sen from India, where love is the essence of life." When asked to explain what she meant by that, she spontaneously replied that India was multi-racial, it was a goliath of a country with 168 languages, no less. That people here live in a state of relative harmony, is an indication that this is a nation of love. In the final round of the pageant, the question put to her was, "What is the essence of a woman?" She replied: "Just being a woman is God's gift". Then came the clincher: "The origin of a child is a mother, a woman. She shows a man what sharing, caring, and loving is all about. That is the essence of a woman." The youngest among the 77 contestants, she was the chosen one to be an ambassador of peace and goodwill, and an angel of mercy to underprivileged children. She charmed a million viewers but her ebullience and zest for life won her even more fans as she toured the world as Miss Universe 1994. After the contest, she candidly admitted, "Everybody knows that I'm not the most beautiful woman in the world," as she explained that she won the Miss Universe contest not only on the basis of her figure and her face, but also on the strength of her personality and the way she projected her country. She did however concede: "I am pretty decent-looking." In a recent interview, Sushmita remarked that her greatest victory lay in being able to handle success well. A refreshing change from the mannequinned beauties, Sushmita takes life on her own terms. She likes instrumental music, writes poetry and is fond of children. But Sush did not want to rest on her laurels forever. Instead, she wanted to be looked up to as a role model and a leader and not just an 18-year old girl who once did her country proud. Today, she has directed her brilliance, energy and talent towards the Indian film industry. Also in one of her interviews, she was asked how did she managed to be both a public figure and same time a very private person. She said,it's a necessity to have two faces. One for the public and one for her own self. Oxana Fedorova |
I just adore he career path.Obviously, she's a strong influential woman. She's also considered as one of the most beautiful beauty queen of all time to which I agree. | First Miss Russia to win the Miss Universe contest, television presenter, singer, retired police officer, former university lecturer, actress, and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Two sides of being her, beauty queen to the whole world and a badass police officer in Russia :) |
